Americans traditionally turn to both seers and poets, if they are not the same, during times of social unrest. Examples are Emerson, Whitman, Seeger, Dylan, Langston Hughes, Rappers Carl Hancock Rux, D J Spooky, and many variations of today’s Spoken Word Poets.
In this tradition, we aspire to utilize art to create an audacity of optimism to replace the present ideological shouting match that does not solve much but instead keeps everyday people endlessly fighting unaware of that which truly unites them.
A rag-tag band of accidental outlaws at war with their pasts explodes with high rolling, high risk relationships and the altered state that love in its most extreme form engenders, an intoxication that is as mind-altering as any pharmaceutical
America’s Big Band period of the the1930’s and 40’s open-hearted beat provides a sound track for this wistful pean to a romantic ideal that shattered shortly after it reached its zenith in the imaginations of 1950’s America although it continues to live on in the DNA of lovers all around the globe.
Mesmerizingly carnal, these complex Dames roar past the limitations of flesh and identity fearlessly diving deep into the wild seas of love and lesser impulses.
