Casablanca on the hudson

During times of social unrest, Americans have traditionally turned to both poets and seers ,if they are not the same. Early on being uplifted by naturalists from Johnny Appleseed to essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson - Stirred by poets and novelists Walt Whitman, James Baldwin, Langston Hughes and always Singer- songwriters such as Pete Seeger, Willie Nelson and Dylan onto contemporary Rappers and today’s ever evolving Spoken Word artists.

We aim to joyfully continue in this tradition with an interactive version of our elastic "Casablanca on the Hudson" using song, projections, dance and role playing to nurture a sense of mutual respect and responsibility between diverse citizenry no matter their principled differences.

Our “Casablanca”, like the movie, asks us each to work towards a common good despite the personal sacrifices that might entail. It posits that together in unity, with a consensus of ‘no’ we can counter an ongoing (program) that continues cunningly, albeit it barely legally, to erode liberties we assumed were inviolable.
